A community of scholars
CHF fellows become part of our active scholarly community, which consists of:
CHF’s regular series of brown-bag lunches and academic seminars provide opportunities for fellows to present and discuss their research with other scholars in a variety of subject areas. There are additional opportunities for academic and social interaction through the Philadelphia Area Center for History of Science (PACHS), which brings together researchers in the history of science, technology, and medicine from throughout the greater Philadelphia region. Various CHF and PACHS conferences allow fellows to make the most of their time in Philadelphia.
Regional assets
Visiting scholars have access to the Othmer Library and other CHF resources, including our archival collections and oral histories, as well as to a wealth of other resources in the area, such as the libraries of the University of Pennsylvania (all CHF fellows are cosponsored by Penn’s History and Sociology of Science Department). Fellows can also take advantage of Philadelphia’s central location between and easy rail access to New York City and Washington, D.C.
