 Submission Guidelines
Chemical Heritage is a quarterly newsmagazine published by the Chemical Heritage Foundation. Chemical Heritage covers the human story of the chemical and molecular sciences, technologies, and industries, with a range from ancient times to the recent past. Topics in recent issues of Chemical Heritage have included the isolation of adrenaline, 16th-century German alchemists, the development of instant color photography, the use of chemistry in the brewery, and the Chemical Warfare Service in World War II.

Audience
The diverse readership of Chemical Heritage includes retired researchers, practicing bench chemists, historians of science, members of the chemical industry, educators, students, and chemistry enthusiasts. Articles should be written in nonspecialized language for a lay audience interested in the history and heritage of the chemical and molecular sciences, technologies, and industries.

Submissions
We welcome submissions of articles by outside authors. Before writing and submitting an article, we suggest that you send a query to the editor in chief at editor@chemheritage.org. The articles most frequently submitted by outside authors are feature articles and "Chemical Reminiscences."

1 Feature articles are approximately 2,000 to 3,500 words long.

2 Chemical Reminiscences are approximately 1,000 to 2,500 words long.

3 Please contact the editor at editor@chemheritage.org for word lengths for other submissions.

Please submit your articles in the following manner.

1 If possible, submit your article electronically (via e-mail or on a floppy disk or CD-ROM). Electronic submissions are the most useful and the easiest for us to use. We can handle most word-processing formats.

2 Avoid using footnotes. We prefer to have a section called "For Further Reading" at the end of the article. If footnotes are necessary, use as few as possible. Also, provide complete bibliographic information (including full names of authors and cities of publication) for each source.

3 If you have images for your article, submit them to us either as electronic images or regular print images. Electronic images should be TIFF or EPS files, though high-quality JPEG files may be usable in some cases; GIF files are not of sufficiently high quality for use in our publication. Send images along with your article either electronically (via e-mail or on a floppy disk or CD-ROM) or by regular mail. Please include captions for these images at the end of the article text.

All electronic submissions should be sent to:
editor@chemheritage.org

If submitting by regular mail, send to:
